Finger Lickin' Lacquer- Family Don't End With Blood Part 1

May 05, 2014

Hey guys! Today I have part one of the Family Don't End With Blood collection by Finger Lickin' Lacquer. The collection is inspired by the tv show Supernatural, and features many of your favorite characters from the show. The colors I reviewed are scented, but you have the option to order them unscented.

Hunter's Helper

Hunter's Helper is a whiskey colored & scented holo. This color was inspired by the late Bobby Singer whose drink of choice was fondly referred to as "hunter's helper." The formula was what you would expect from a holo. It took two coats to achieve full coverage. The scent was pleasant and reminded me of a smooth whiskey. The scent was easy to smell with a top coat, but it was not overwhelming.

Hey Assbutt

Hey Assbutt is a orange/tan cream with blue and white glitter. The scent is described as light cottony fragrance that smells like heaven. The consistency on this was just right, so I had no issue getting glitter out of the bottle. I was able to achieve full opacity with two coats. The scent was a bit hard for me to describe. It has a sweet, linen like smell, but I couldn't quite pinpoint it. The scent was easy to smell with a top coat, but it was not overwhelming.

Croatoan

Croatoan is a dark green cream with various sizes and shapes of red glitter. The scent is described as dirty, earthy leather. The consistency was a little thicker than Hey Assbutt, but it wasn't hard to work with. I was able to achieve full coverage with two coats. To me, the scent was a bit hard to describe. It definitely is earthy, but not like pine. The scent could be smelled through the top coat, but it wasn't overwhelming. I am extremely fond of this color combo. When I think of red and green together, I usually think of Christmas, but this combo is nice and subtle.

Cherry Pie

Cherry Pie is a pinkish-red holo that smells like sweet cherry pie. This color was based off of Deans love of cherry pie and cheesy 80's metal like Warrant. The formula was a bit thick for a holo, but it wasn't hard to work with. It took two coats to achieve full coverage. I did notice a few bits of pigment in the formula while I was swatching. I was able to smooth out most of them, but there were a few that wouldn't blend in. I mentioned this to Jennifer, and she said she is now working with a new way to dissolve pigment, so this should not happen in the future. The scent was pleasant and smelled a bit like a vanilla & cherry mixture. I'm not entirely sure if the scent was too weak, or if my nose was overworked at this point, but I couldn't really smell it through the top coat.

Fight the Fairies

Fight the Fairies is an iridescent glitter topper that smells like sweet cream. This color was inspired by the cream loving fairies in the Supernatural-verse. I used one coat of Fight the Fairies over Cherry Pie to help show its composition. I personally found the formula to be too thick, and I plan on thinning it down a bit for future use. The scent smelled faintly like vanilla, but it got lost in the smell of the top coat.

  2. Your nails are getting so long!

Fight The Fairies is so pretty. I can't wait to swatch the ones I got. And I can't help but wonder if Hunter's Helper would stamp... it'd be a gorgeous stamping polish.

  3. I actually tried to stamp with them using my Pueen and MoYou plates, but I couldn't get a clean image. They look more jelly based with the first coat but darken up with the second coat, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.
